Відзначення випускників Львівського віртуального англомовного університету дистанційного навчання «Lviv Open University»

28 травня 2014 року відбулося відзначення випускників Львівського віртуального англомовного університету дистанційного навчання «Lviv Open University» в приміщення великої сесійної зали Львівської міської ради (площа Ринок, 1). У заході взяли участь учні та вчителі, які успішно закінчили навчання у Львівському віртуальному англомовному університеті дистанційного навчання «Lviv Open University» за програмою edX.  

У Львові 13 учнів та вчителів закінчили різні курси за програмою edX цього навчального року, і я дуже тішуся, що у цьому списку є двоє моїх учнів – Софія Стахів та Назар Полеха, які закінчили 3-місячний освітянський on-line курс «Ідеї 20-го століття» Техаського університету м. Остін, США.

 

On May 28, 2014 alumni of the Lviv Virtual University of distance learning «Lviv Open University» were awarded in the session hall of Lviv City Council (Market Square, 1). The event was attended by students and teachers who had successfully completed online edX courses.

In Lviv 13 students and teachers completed various edX courses this school year and I am very happy that among them are 2 of my students - Sofia Stakhiv and Nazar Polekha who completed the 3-month educational on-line edX course "Ideas 20th century" (University of Texas, Austin, USA).

Some Demographics:

The number enrolled has changed day to day, as people sign up and drop out, but at its high point was almost 40,000. At the end of the course there were about 33,200. Of those, about 8,000 did some of the quizzes, and 1,003 received certificates.

About 3% of the students in this course have doctorates; another 25% have master's degrees; another 33% have bachelor's degrees; another 3% have associate's degrees; another 21% have high school diplomas; 3% haven't yet finished high school. (We don't have information about the other 8%.)

The top 15 countries represented, in order: the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Spain, Australia, the Russian Federation, France, Greece, China, Mexico, the Philippines, and the Ukraine.

I’m happy to announce that entries for ADITLOU 4 (where participants wrote about ordinary and not-so-ordinary experiences on December 1, 2013) are finally posted!

Do you want to know the overall statistics for the course?  Here are some relevant numbers:

Total enrollment: 32,638 
Number of students completing at least 1% of the coursework: 5,035
Number of student completing at least 10% of the coursework: 1,668   
Number of students attempting at least one of the 3 graded essays: 563
Number of students receiving the certificate:  1,003

Over 60% of those completing at least 10% of the coursework stuck with the course and performed well enough to earn the certificate.  

That is a true accomplishment.

  

Excursions on the program "Pushkin’s Petersburg"

Participants of the educational program “Pushkin’s Petersburg” didn’t have only lectures. They went on several excursions. For example, they visited Pushkin’s memorial house. It was here where Pushkin lived during his last days and prepared for the duel with Dantes.

 

Saint Petersburg has more than 600 addresses connected with Pushkin. The special excursion devoted to these addresses was arranged for the participants of the program. One more excursion was organised to the place of Pushkin’s duel with Georges d'Anthès. The place is known as “The Black River”.

Екскурсійна частина програми «Пушкінський Петербург»

Учасники освітньої програми не тільки слухали лекції. Вони відвідали меморіальну квартиру Пушкіна – будинок, який до 1917 р. належав княгині Волконській. Саме тут поет провів останні дні свого життя і готувався до дуелі з Дантесом. Пістолети, на яких проходила дуель – тепер музейний експонат. У музеї-квартирі зберігається також піднос, на якому на весіллі Пушкіна та Наталії Гончарової їм подавали шампанське. Збереглися і листи Пушкіна до дружини. Бібліотека Пушкіна налічувала понад чотири тисячі томів на 14 мовах. Справжні видання зберігаються в Пушкінському Домі, а гості музею-квартири змогли оглянути дублікати книг, якими зачитувався поет. Квартира Пушкіна була відновлена ​​в початковому вигляді за планом, складеним Жуковським відразу після смерті Олександра Сергійовича. Пізніше квартира була здана іншим людям, які перепланували приміщення. Однак за документами вдалося відновити планування будівлі. Роботи зі створення музею почалися в 1925 р. і закінчилися у 1928 р.

У Санкт-Петербурзі більше 600 адрес, пов'язаних з Пушкіним, і п'яти днів програми виявилося мало, щоб відвідати їх всі. Крім того  Петербург є фоном, а часто і героєм багатьох пушкінських творів: «Мідний вершник» , «Євгеній Онєгін» , «Пікова дама» тощо. Тому окрема екскурсія була присвячена «Петербурзьким адресам» Пушкінських героїв. Ще було організовано екскурсію на місце дуелі поета на Чорній річці.
